Abstract
The global shift towards low-carbon energy systems has become a key challenge for both developed and
emerging economies. This paper presents a comparative analysis of energy transition processes in Poland
and Türkiye, focusing on structural changes in energy systems, policy frameworks, and development
pathways. Poland and Türkiye represent two distinct energy transition models shaped by different resource bases,
economic structures, and geopolitical conditions. Poland’s transition is strongly influenced by its historical
dependence on coal and the requirements of European Union climate policy, while Türkiye’s pathway
reflects rapid growth in energy demand, increasing diversification, and a strong expansion of renewable
energy capacity, particularly solar and wind.
The analysis examines key indicators, including energy mix evolution, renewable energy deployment,
energy security considerations, and policy instruments supporting the transition. The study also identifies
major challenges, including infrastructural constraints and regulatory barriers.
The results highlight both convergences and divergences in transition dynamics. While both countries are
accelerating the development of renewable energy, their strategies differ in pace, structure, and policy
drivers. The findings contribute to a better understanding of national transition pathways and provide
insights relevant for shaping effective energy policies in diverse economic and institutional contexts.
